Re: Enabling MusicIP on newer Ubuntu server releases
The problem here - after further review - is that Logitech Media Server is being maintained which means it's compatible with systemd.
MusicIP is not.
There are ways to fix this - I am working on a solution. But it's tricky (for me). I'll post if I get a good result which I can replicate.

Enabling MusicIP on newer Ubuntu server releases
I love Logitech Media Server and I love MusicIP. I would not have spent this much time on many other programs. But, to show you how convoluted the *fix* is for getting MusicIP to work properly on recent Ubuntu releases I refer people here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108991-MusicIP...

Re: "bum" not available in ubuntu 20.04.3 Focal Fossa
As far as I can tell, getting mmserver to run under 20.04.x is far more complicated - including the need to create/edit a mmserver.service file - I'm not sure which file - logitechmediaserver.service or mmserver.service - needs to specify that mmserver must start before logitechmediaserver by specif...

Re: "bum" not available in ubuntu 20.04.3 Focal Fossa
from the official ubuntu irc channel:
[bootup manager] "was only for sysV init and upstart ... ubuntu switched to systemd in 2015, even if it was still somewhere you could not use it ..."

"bum" not available in ubuntu 20.04.3 Focal Fossa
Next we want to change the start order of Squeezebox Server and MusicIP to ensure that MusicIP starts before Squeezebox Server. For this we'll use a graphical BootUp-Manager called bum. So, from within the Ubuntu GUI go to System -> Administration and choose Synaptic Package Manager, type bum in th...

Re: Replacement for Squeezebox Boom: PolyVection DAC32
I got my DAC32 this week. After a little wrangling (seems I had to update my router's firmware and then reset it to factory settings i.e. start again) ISP connection again works as does LMS and the DAC32. I don't have great powered speakers - I wanted to make certain I could get the thing running be...

ia32-libs for 64-bit Ubuntu MusicIP has been replaced
"No such file or directory" using the 64 bit version of Ubuntu Server If you receive a "no such file or directory" error when trying to start mmserver under the 64 bit version of Ubuntu then you need to type the following command in a Terminal or Putty Session to fix this: sudo ...

Re: Replacement for Squeezebox Boom: PolyVection DAC32
I ordered one of these. Should arrive next week. Set-up looks fairly easy. I'd be happy to answer any questions after I get the thing going.
