Been using Linux (mainly Ubuntu) for a couple of years now. Still have windows machines tho. Ubuntu is just for my server.

Build your own. Everytime.
Pre-built machines are built for a particular market using the cheapest components they can get their hands on. build your own and you can spec out EXACTLY what you want, no compromises.
IMHO pre-built machines are for people with too much money and not enough sense.
