Re: Getting set up VNC problem

Hi Ian I've not really had much need to tweak the server recently, not that their is usually a need to tweak so much as and insatiable need to fiddle :) The next phases of the install are on on hold at the minute. We are looking for our first house as a couple so spare cash for toys is at a premium....

Re: Linux and SSDs

Hi rragavan

Probably worth having a read of http://forum.havetheknowhow.com/viewtop ... &hilit=SSD

It's not really an issue but worth understanding before you start.

Re: Getting set up VNC problem

Just as an addition to what has already been said. If your router allows you to specify a start point for assigned ip's set it past the last static ip. ie. my routers ip is 192.168.1.1 I've set the first DHCP IP as 192.168.1.10 Which leaves me 2-9 as static ip's This stops the router trying to assig...

Re: Automate ripping of Blurays

Hi Incadar I use dvd::rip which is basically a GUI for a bunch of command line programs. It isn't automatic but you could probably use the log file to help you create a script to do the same. I have been meaning to do it myself for a while but I've never got around to it. Not sure about the meta tag...

Re: TwonkyMedia Server

Hi Andy

We stream to a number of renderers from our server including an xbox360 using PS3Mediaserver. It isn't perfect (what is) but it has a great support network and it's freeeeeeeee.

Re: KVM Fileserver

Hi Velle I can't speak for Ian, but I gave up on the idea of KVM. I'm afraid it was a case of the complication out weighing the benefits. I wanted to run the whole media server as a guest. Unfortunately the tuners that feed Myth where only available to the host, I can't remember if it was USB or PCI...

Re: Strange sensors output

Genius!

I was sure I had done something daft in Ubuntu like switching the character map from english to Danish or something. It didn't even occur to me to look at Putty.

Thanks Ian

Strange sensors output

Hi all I've been playing about with the sensors command with the idea of following Ian's temp scripts, when I run sensors I get the following output. k8temp-pci-00c3 Adapter: PCI adapter Core0 Temp: +29.0°C Core1 Temp: +29.0°C What is the "Â" about, is this displaying in place of another...
