Hi, yes my guide on MediaTomb is brief to say the least. I'll look at adding more, especially transcoding.
I'll also look at adding something for LVM
Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Deluge auth file
Thanks for the reply. Did have to create the auth file, as was not there. Added deluge:deluge:5 and chown to deluge:deluge but still no remote connection it seems. Any more ideas? With mythtv, I've had a similar issue before (could not open card) and is usually a permission thing on the adapters. J...

Re: Deluge auth file
Hi, If there is already an auth file in the /var/lib/deluge folder then add an extra line which reads deluge:deluge If there is not one already then create one, add the entry above and make deluge the owner. In terms of mythtv, I can only get it to work by running the mythtv-setup as sudo. Despite m...

Re: Editing a text file
Thanks for your kind words.
Probably the easiest way to edit a file on your NAS is to copy it over to your workstation, edit it using Notepad and then copy it back. Alternatively you can use something like WinSCP to do it. http://winscp.net/eng/docs/ui_editor

Re: Latest hardware?
Hi,
My server still uses the components as listed in the guide and it is probably still too powerful for use as a server. So, if the components are still available then you should be able to pick them up for a good price.

Re: Sky in the USA?
Hi,
Yes, I'm in the UK. The HDHomeRun seems to be popular in the states and would be, I guess, a better version of Sky in as much as it's a proper network implementation of TV rather than the implementation I have which is just TV over coax.

Re: Amp question
Hi, No, my amp is just an amp. All my media is stored on the one server. I have “clients” dotted around the house which pull content from the server on demand. So, for music-only rooms the clients are Squeezeboxes. For “TV rooms” the clients are the NETGEAR EVA8000 & EVA9150, Popcorn Hour C-200 ...

Re: Media Streaming Question
Hi,
I use a PS3 and several NETGEAR EVA8000s and EVA9150s for clients.
For the "server" I use MediaTomb and more lately PS3 Media Server. The EVAs just use SAMBA so don't need any particula server-side software.
Hope this helps.
