TwonkyMedia Server

I have just installed TwonkyMedia Server on my server and it looks pretty good so far, Xbox 360's are supported which is good for me. A bit a of a tip for anyone interested in using Twonky on a Linux box, download the manual installation and apparently you get the 30 day trial forever, although it i...

Re: Brand New Media Server

Only too happy to help, it wasn't that long ago I was asking for help and I probably will be again in the future :!: :!: Samsung F4's spin at 5400RPM so they are low power drives, faster spindle speed equals more power. I have always liked Seagate drives, apart from a couple of years ago thay had do...

Re: Brand New Media Server

Hello and welcome to the forum. Wow that will be an awesome server  If you have been following the threads in the forum you may have seen that both Ian and myself are big fans of Samsung 2TB F4 drives, as they are twice the capacity of the WD Greens you have mentioned. Sammy are also fast d...

Re: Windows Home Server 2011

Lol, I guess I must be in the right place at the right time!! It is an old Poweredge P3 CPU!! I got a workaround working for XBMC and Ubuntu server, XBMC will take content via Upnp so I simply installed MediaTomb on the server and all is well. Although I do find it strange that my Win7 lappy can acc...

Re: Windows Home Server 2011

Hi Ian M$ have not released a trial download for WHS 2011, I would have given it a bash on different HDD in my server just to see first hand if it is any good. If I hadn't of learned so much of this forum, the guide and yourself (Ian) then WHS would have been on my shopping list, but I feel I have g...

Windows Home Server 2011

Now before Ian marches me off to the courtyard at noon to be blindfolded and placed in front of the Penquin firing squad for mentioning WHS 2011. I found that I can a buy a brand new copy of this OS off eBay for less than £37 all in, which seems to be a bit off a bargain, although it is £37 more exp...

Re: Newbie question

You just can't beat Unix/Linux based stuff can you? . Mmmm I thought me not having a TV tuner card was the issue, I am really would like some sort of upnp support for this to work. Although thinking about it XBMC has upnp support so it can do the streaming DOH. Mythbuntu looks good also. Andy

Re: Newbie question

I have just found this http://code.google.com/p/mythbox/.

This may answer a few question on MythTV and XBMC.

I thought I was on the right track, with XBMC as the frontend to the MythTV backend.

Hope this helps....
