Re: Newbie question

Sorry Ian for any confusion caused  . The same as you on the Sammy F4, in my opinion best 2Tb drive on the market for storage (price seems to have gone up a bit, at least on Ebuyer.com) although I wouldn't use one as a boot drive, I much prefer a smaller boot drive, this is why I am leaning to...

Re: Newbie question

Me thinks Ian has misunderstood me!! I kinda meant Ian knows more about MythTV than myself. Back to XBMC, there is a few different flavours so it can be installed on Windows, Mac, Linux or there is XBMC Live (Ubuntu based) which is a standalone offering, which is what I am working towards, although ...

Re: Newbie question

I think Ian would be more qualified to give you advice on MythTV. However: XBMC would be a good choice to work with Mythbuntu, XBMC-Live uses Ubuntu as it's underlying Operating System. The XBMC based HTPC I am planning to build will run XBMC-Live as it's O/S as my HTPC will only be a media centre d...

Re: Newbie question

XBMC is pretty cool, I used to use it on the old Xbox as media streamers for the house, now we have moved to X360's so I started streaming via Windows Media Player which turned out to be hit and miss and moved on to TVersity which is great but only for Windows  . So now with the help of t...

Re: Network Bridge Question

Hi Ian Almost certain my gateway/router? settings are correct. I have reinstalled and I am just going to leave it as is for the time been until I get more confident with Ubuntu :wtf: I was tempted to buy WHS 2011 as it is less than 40 quid at the moment, but I would much rather spend the money on ha...

Re: Newbie question

Hi degree. Sorry Ian for jumping in but: One solution would be to install mythbuntu and run XBMC, XBMC is awesome as a media centre PC the only draw back is it needs decent graphics for the frontend to run smoothly with HD content. http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=MythTV Hope this helps... Good luck!!! A...

Re: MakeMKV

Larry I see where you are coming from. My vision for a XBMC HTPC is to build a working set up that I can use as a test bed in the hope of building custom HTPC's with a view to selling these on to potential customers. I have done quite a bit of research in to XBMC and it seems a great system, also I ...

Re: MakeMKV

Have you thought about XBMC as a media streamer which can be run off any Windows or Linux box and you can run it as a "live" set up. http://xbmc.org/ XBMC is going to be the core of my HTPC when time and cash allows as it can play pretty much anything all served off my Ubuntu server. And &...

Re: Network Bridge Question

Sorry not really, I am not sure if I need to replace the eth0 with br0 or if I need both.

I did that last week then I could not connect to my server but that might have been something else I fuxered up

Cheers
