Got my slice of Pi yesterday, but work commitments are getting in the way at the moment, although I am attempting to install Debian on an 8GB SD card ready for the big plug in.

Re: Server will not restart after installing Ubuntu
You don't need to do that, simply make a Ubuntu live cd on to a USB stick with universal USB creator.

Re: Server will not restart after installing Ubuntu
Ah OK then. Let's look at the fact's 1. System boot's to uEFI/BIOS. 2. You able to install the OS without any issue's. 3. The system will boot the OS. I am thinking that the GRUB bootloader has somehow got corrupted. On one of my earlier builds this happened to me, but I can't think for the life of ...

Re: Server will not restart after installing Ubuntu
tony have you tried altering the uEFI/BIOS for your boot drive to BIOS, newer Dell servers will only boot from HDD if the uEFi is set to BIOS for that HDD, to boot from CD/DVD you have to set the uEFI CD/DVD ROM to uEFI so you can boot from DC/DVD ROM. Worth a shot I guess.

Re: Installing OS with RAID
I have had a few PC's through the doors lately that have been configured as RAID 0, why would anyone do such a stupid thing, lose a drive and your data has gone. So for me any form of RAID for a boot drive is a big no no, stick with what Ian says, SSD as your boot drive and all will be sweet, althou...

Re: A New Era in Storage
Over the past 2-3 weeks I have got emails from Ebuyer.com with some very tasty offer's on SSD's, today's is a SanDisk 120GB SATA 11 SSD for £65.00 with free Saturday delivery, just a little short on cash or it would have been a great upgrade for my MacBook.

Re: Raspberry Pi
OpenELEC looks very interesting along with XBMC. Many Pi owners are saying that the device is a little on the slow side, I'm sure the software dev's will tweaking things for a bit more speed. The main reason for getting a Pi is for my 10 year old son, to try and get him into writing code, Mike is al...
