Re: SATA 3 woes
Hi Mike I got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Port-SATA-Serial-IDE-ATA-RAID-Controller-PCI-Card-UK-/280414578300?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_InterfaceCards&hash=item414a02e67c a couple of years ago for my first FreeNAS box and is now installed in my Ubuntu server, although it is ...

Re: Backup Solution
Hi there. Back in my XP days I used Syncback http://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/index.html it just worked, but with Vista and W7 I seem to have issues with schedules. After a quick Google search I found that a lot of Linux types use rsync and Delta copy, but it is beyond my limited Linux foo. For...

Re: XBMC-Live update
I have now rebuilt my XBMC-Live box with an Intel CPU and all is good now.
When I get around to it I will post some pictures.
And I can use my Android phone as a remote control-cool eh?

Re: TwonkyMedia Server
I have had no success with PS3 Media Server. The TwonkyMedia trial will soon expire. However I have installed and configured uShare with a bit of help from http://liamm.com/tech/how-toxbox-360-media-server-in-linux and it seems to fit the bill nicely. The X360's in our house find it with no issues a...

Re: Oh look, a GUI
I had no idea that 11.10 had a GUI.
You really should install 10.04 LTS as it tried and tested, also Ian's guide is based upon 10.04 LTS.
BTW I was going ask if anyone had tried out 11.10-now I know

Re: Copying files
Thanks Ian. But I have managed to get past the permissions without having to change them. Here's how: VNC into my server. From places select network>media-server(In my case) logon to the server>locate the file/folder I want to copy from my home folder>home/andy/whatever folder>drag the file/folder i...

Re: Adding a drive problem
Hi Sean I think I see your problem, you have an MSDOS partition: Capture2.1.jpg So you need to delete this partition, save any data you may have on it: Capture3.1.jpg Then follow the guide and you should be good to go. From the create filesystem dropdown select New Linux (ext4) Hope this helps.... A...
