I don't remember if I was root or not; but there were other problems with that install - files that could not be found, etc. I checked the hash and the iso was fine; there were several sources that were unavailable. Eventually I gave up on the LTS and went with the latest ...

Hi. Have been following the install procedure outlined on htkh to build a media server using the ubuntu lts 12.04 server version; I installed the vnc server and then ran it with
entered password, etc.

but there is no file /home/username/.xnc/startup to edit.

so I'm stuck.
