After Ians trick with gMail the other day I thought it might be an idea to remind (or inform) people of Google apps http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en-GB/group/index.html.
If you own your own domain it's a great way of making it work for you with out spending more money. After associating your domain with Google apps you can create user accounts (currently 10 for free) and any number of aliases.
You can grant or restrict account access to various Google features depending on who will use each account. Allow contact, calender and Google docs sharing between users.
It is incredibly powerful and best of all free (as long as you need less than 10 users), but given that like me most people on this forum will be using it to manage our family's e-mail needs shouldn't be a problem.
Have fun and let me know if you find this of use.
