lost link on ubuntu server install

Post by w00die »

Hello all,
I was so happy to find a clear guide on how to install ubuntu server. Once found, I swiftly saved the bookmarks to be used some days later. Alas the bookmarks no more work, Where can I find :
http://www.havetheknowhow.com/Install-t ... omb+ubuntu
or
http://www.havetheknowhow.com/Install-U ... ver+karmic
etc?
It was such a good and clear guide

Hi w00die,

Hmm, those links look like they have a bit extra at the end. Try these links instead:

Install MediaTomb

Install Ubuntu

Ian,
Thanks for your reply but, it is strange, your links also do not work. I only get to the (a ?) havetheknowhow.com home page. And that is something completely different, all kinds of thing about christian music and so. Also "your build a mediaserver" link doesn't work for me.
What is going on?

I had the same problem last night but everything is back to normal this morning. Probably a problem with the website host which has now been fixed.

Thanks guys, something was very wrong with my site, it was redirecting to a strange landing page. Something to do with churches and religion.

I'll get in contact with my hosting provider to see if I can find out what went wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ian.

UPDATE: It all seems to be working fine, for now. I couldn't get to the bottom of what went wrong although it doesn't look like my site was hacked. I'll put it down to a temporary blip but will be keep a close eye on things to see if it comes back.

It would be great if others could post here if they see a similar occurrence in the future. Oh and if I ever decide to turn my site into one about religion I'll be sure to let you guys know before I do it

Oh dear. I'm sorry about this. Do you mean the forum or the main website? What sort of pop-ups are you getting? Are they religious ones or porn or general shopping things or something else? I'm not seeing anything odd on my side but that's probably because I'm going through different DNS servers than you.

I'll get back in touch with my provider and tell them all is not well.

Please bear with me

Well Ian,
Yesterday the forum was also not accessible, but fortunately that is back so I can reply now. I am glad to see that I am not the only one to have the problem but Ian I am afraid it is not yet solved, I still get the christian songs home page with havetheknowhow.com in bold whatever link I try (exept forum)
I hope your hostprovider can solve it soon, now i am still struggling with the google-cached versions.
succes!

Do you happen to know what DNS server(s) you're going through?

If you ping my site from where you are, what ip address comes back?

Ian,
I uploaded a screenshot, maybe useful as you cannot replicate it.
