Unity vs Xfce

I just finished my install of server 14.04 and it comes up with the Xfce desktop. I would like to run Unity or Gnome and would like the ability to switch desktops. There doesn't seem to be a choice for what desktop to load at the startu up screen.. Unity is installed but trying to logout of Xfce to load unity from the command line doesn't seem to work. Suggestions?
