VNC and Synaptic Package Manager problems

Ok this is strange, but I managed to run it on the actual PC terminal rather than the VNC terminal. But after I installed the Mythtv program, it won't let me use it. I click yes to be added to the group and then when I enter my password on the next screen it replies with password incorrect, even though I know for sure it's correct.

Any Ideas?
