Thanks for all the great information you've posted, I've used it for several media server builds. But to the point, what happened to all the MediaTomb configuration information you've had posted? I noticed you only have a single page up now?

Have a look at PS3 Mediaserver. it's much better out of the box than mediatomb I think. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ps3MediaServer
