XBMC-Live update

Post by Andy Horn »

At long my XBMC-Live HTPC system is up and running.

My server handles the HD content without batting an eyelid.

And the playback via HDMI at 1080p is amazing.

I am having a couple of issues.

1. My Netgear router seems to have difficulty with DHCP as every couple of day's so I need to issue a command from the National Grid interface, so I guess I am going have to set up static IP's for the bulk of my network.

2. If my HTPC has been idling for a while when I click the mouse (temporary) I am greeted with a black screen, not sure what the problem is it may be something to do with CPU cooling, when time allows I am going try in on an Intel board.

I have now rebuilt my XBMC-Live box with an Intel CPU and all is good now.

When I get around to it I will post some pictures.

And I can use my Android phone as a remote control-cool eh?

That sounds cool. Looking forward to the pics

So are you connecting to an http address to control via your android or do you have an app for it?

Ian.

It's not much to look at, it's in an scruffy old beige RM case that I had kicking around, it should look OK when I spray it black.

Yup there's an app for that and also for iPhone/iPad and iPod touch but the Apple app's are paid for-the Android version is free.
