Hi there GoingCrazy and welcome to the forums

Glad to hear things seem to be going ok. Hopefully you'll have no issues at all but you know where we are if you do ;)

Re: The "introduce yourself" thread

Your VM explanation makes perfect sense. I just KNEW there was a reason why it worked that way  Your method of putting together windows machines splitting the main drive into separate partitions for swap and temp is a genius idea  Seriously. WOW!! And given the number of Ubuntu installs I...

Re: Site suggestion ...

Hi Davey, Your post made me chuckle (and brought back memories!) When I first thought about setting up the site I did plan on it becoming a "know-how" site for all sorts of things (hence the site name). "How to build a media server" was meant to be the first of many such guides. ...

Re: Setting up VNC

Hi there and welcome to the forums

I'm afraid you've not done anything wrong, VNC seems to be broken currently. :-( I'm hitting the same issue now on 14.04LTS too. As and when I get it working (or give up trying) I'll update the site.

Sorry

Re: The "introduce yourself" thread

Hi Davey, Good idea about using a VM just for Deluge. I might just try that one myself  In terms of horsepower I think you'll be fine with your setup, I regularly run 4 HD streams simultaneously and the server does not even break into a sweat. BUT, any required transcoding is done at the cl...

Re: The "introduce yourself" thread

Hi Davey, great post and welcome to the forums! In terms of streaming your movies, what are you planning on using as clients? I've recently invested in some NUC boxes. I've installed OpenELEC on them and they work like a charm. At some point I'll add some extra pages to the website but they'r...

Re: failed to do homework on Tixati

Sure, it's still worth a look tho even if it's not being actively developed. FlexGet is great IF you can get it working nicely. Luckily I only have very simple needs

Re: suggestion: consider Tixati for rss feed / video downloa

Thanks for your suggestion

I'm in the process of re-doing many of the pages and so will definitely look into this. So thanks again
